Monitoring of sublingual allergen immunotherapy using serum cytokine levels

Vladimíra Řezáčová, Ph.D. Title of thesis: Monitoring of sublingual allergen immunotherapy using serum cytokine levels Keywords: allergen immunotherapy, cytokine, ELISA, grass pollen allergy Background: The aim of this thesis was to find out whether there are detectable changes in the levels of IFNγ, IL-4 and IL-5 during allergen immunotherapy and whether these cytokines could thus serve as biomarkers of the efficiency of this treatment. Methods: Selected cytokines were determined using Quantikine® HS ELISA Human IFN-γ Immunoassay, Quantikine® HS ELISA Human IL-4 Immunoassay and Quantikine® ELISA Human IL-5 Immunoassay. The monitored population consisted of 32 polinotics, 19 of which were administered allergen immunotherapy and 13 of which constituted the control group. As part of the follow-up, both groups also continuously recorded the severity of their symptoms using a visual analog scale. Results: In the group of treated patients, a decrease in IL-4, IL-5 and IFNγ concentrations was observed during treatment, but no significant differences in the values of these cytokines were found between patients treated with Oralair and control individuals. Karolína Jankovičová, Ph.D. Title of diploma thesis: Monitoring of sublingual allergen immunotherapy using serum levels of allergen specific IgG antibodies The first aim of the thesis was to evaluate the clinical course of sublingual allergen immunotherapy (SLIT). Another aim was to assess the changes in antibody response over time and to compare the results of the Oralair treated group with the control group. Last but not least, the aim of the thesis was to evaluate the changes in the levels of specific IgG antibodies in relation to the clinical course of SLIT. The visual analogue scale (VAS) was used for the clinical assessment of allergic symptoms. A commercially available ELISA method was used to determine sIgG4 against grass pollen allergens. sIgG1, sIgG2 and sIgG3 were determined by an in-house developed and validated ELISA. Based on the results, statistical analysis was performed. It was found that Oralair therapy was clinically effective from the first season of the treatment. The evaluation of Stallergenes SA

Master's thesis focuses on evalution of Stallergenes SA. Theoretical part starts with clarifying the background of the company and sector it is situated in. It is followed by outlining the principles and methods of financial analysis. Theoretical part is ended by introduction of the enterprise evaluation methods. Practical part contains strategic analysis -- characteristics of the sector, competition analysis and prediction of future development. Next, the financial analysis is performed. The evaluation is done by using book value method, discounted cash flow method and method based on EVA model.
